5 Days Rwenzori Hike Overview
In the 5 Days Mountain Rwenzori Hike trip, you will explore the various peaks of Mount Rwenzori by hiking the Rwenzori Mountains Central Circuit, which takes you up to the peak of Mount Stanley as quickly as possible.
Because you will be covering long distances each day, this Rwenzori Hike can only be completed by mountaineers who are strong, healthy, and fast.
During our 5 Day Mountain Rwenzori Hike tour, you will be dropped off in Entebbe at the end of your trip for your flight out. Accommodation is included, camping gear while at the mountain, and other services. Now is the time to take advantage of this wonderful experience.
Highlights of the 5 Days Rwenzori Hiking

Upon arrival, you will be picked from the airport and driven to your lodge. An additional fee will apply.
DAY 1: Starts at Nyakalengija (1600m) to John matte hut (3420m)
Upon arrival in Nyakalengija, you will be briefed and pick up your hiking equipment before starting your five-day Mountain Rwenzori Hiking. Your porter will help you carry these equipment and you proceed for your you 5 Days Rwenzori Hike experience.
Together with your guides and porters, you will commence your Rwenzori hike through local banana and coffee farms, then tropical rain forests, montane forests, bamboo , and later alpine terrain.
The first hike stopover will be at Nyabitaba hut for warm lunch and continue through Kurt Schaffer Bridge, that is at the bridge which joins of Bujuku and Mabuku rivers. On the last leg you will come towards John Matte, you will be able to eat dinner and spend the night at this camp.
DAY 2: John matte to Elena hut (4563m)
After your breakfast today, at this camp, you will continue your hike through a slipery and rocky part of the Rwenzori Mountains characterized by rivers and water streams along the way.
You will actually be able to see the Magheritta and Alexandra peaks from far away on a clear day. Today’s hike is very tough and challenging but very possible. You will see various plant species and flowers that are very beautiful and endemic to the mountains like giant lobelia ,everlasting flowers ,groundsels etc.
Continue the hike through Mount Stanley to Elena Hut where are you sleep and have your dinner meals
DAY 3: Elena to Bujuku camp (3930m) – To Magheritta Peak
Day 3 of the days Rwenzori hike, today is also another challenging day you will wake up very early in the morning to be specific at 2 AM You will walk through rocky areas With the support of Ropes. In some areas of Mount Stanley You definitely need crampons.
After the Stanley Glacier You will continue through the rocks to through the rocks Margarita Glacier That is going to Margarita peak The highest point in Uganda and the highest point on Mountain Rwenzoris.
You have a chance to take photos Before descending back to Elena Camp Where you can have lunch before going back to Bujuko hat a place where you spend the next night
DAY 4: Elena to Bujuku camp (3930m) – To Magheritta Peak
After an early morning breakfast at Bujuku camp, You will take a beautiful trail to descend to John Matte. Upon reaching, You will have a rest and have lunch here Before Proceeding to Nyabitaba Camp You will have dinner here and sleep here tonight.
DAY 5: Nyabitaba back to Nyakalengija
Day 5 of the 5 days Rwenzori Hike After breakfast a you will take a trail descending to Nyakalengija village.
The trail down can be very slippery and muddy especially During the rain season in Uganda. You will need to be careful to pass through the rocks and mud To prevent injuries.
Going down to the resting point will take you five hours where are you have a lunch stopover at Nyabitaba camp. You will work an extra three hours to Nyakalengija village.
You will reach in the late evening it is possible to drive back to Kampala / Entebbe airport Who arrange an extra night in Kasese town. It is also possible to add a Safari experience on this trip, Queen Elizabeth national park is just very close, Oh go to the tracking is possible in Bwindi national park.
This will conclude the 5 days Rwenzori hike
